Beastly

I'm quite liking this new instrumental Beastie Boys track, Off The Grid. Wonder how the new album's gonna turn out? More Check Your Head, less Intergalacticy nonsense...

Noise For Noise Sake

Last Saturday i came across a great underground venue in downtown Vancouver. Friends of mine told me of a jazz spot off the beat and path. I'm a sucker for people getting together for plenty of noise making and beer drinking. This little hangout was lined with old couches and plenty of room to stretch out. Seeing as the turn out was 20 people tops, this intimate setting could have been a real drag. The mayham of Granville street's boozy zombies might be more to the liking of most, but 1067 had the perfect vibe for me. I'm looking forward to the delay petals and frantic drumming soon.
The song i've included comes from the venue's myspace page.

How About A Threesome?

A lack of updates makes for a pretty boring site now doesn't it? I've been meaning to post about the Black Angels concert i saw last week and the underground jazz show i witnessed the next night. This will all be discussed over the next couple of days but i'm going to hand out a little downtempo flavour to tide you over. Enjoy the goods!

Long Weekend Explosion

A weekend in Pemberton is what the doctor ordered. Friends are moving to Ontario and i have to get in my goodbyes. Hopefully the weather will be as sunny as this little ditty.
Jimi Tenor has recorded a new super slick afro beat album with Kabu Kabu. Whether its electro, orchestrated pop or straight up funk, the guy can do no wrong in my books. This is perfect frisbee playing, run drenched music. Well now you know my plans for the next few days.

In Boots

I hope to brighten your day with a little electronic and instrumental hip hop goodness. Keeping this short yet again, i'll only tell you that i'm excited to be getting out of the city for awhile. Summer weather is calling me.
As for the picture of the cat, i can't remember how i found this but the look on its face is priceless.
Came across this Dan Deacon video at Stereogum. He's a big fat dance machine...

Losing Touch With My Mind

I was thinking about this today and its struck me as odd that i've not posted any Spacemen 3. This band has been such a huge influence on me over the years. Its become almost an infatuation. Having seen both Spectrum and Spiritualized live during the 90s, its a shame that Sonic Boom and J Spacemen don't get along. Dreamweapon is something i pull out from time to time for that 40 minutes of pure drone power. The track i'm posting tonight is from their first album made up almost entirely of cover tunes. I've included an interview of the guys sitting around looking horribly stoned.

Stay Away From Candy Mountain

This cartoon is so over the top its no wonder all the unicorns died off during the world trade center attacks. I blame Bin Laden for many lost unicorn lives.
Seriously i need some sleep. I'll edit this rant when i'm good and ready, damn you!

Update - And stay away from Spiderman 3. I took a roommate with me last night to see it and couldn't believe how shitacular it was. People were laughing at all the wrong times and the dialogue made me want to puke. Gives shit a bad name comes to mind. Man i love Spiderman and this is how you repay me. Thanks Marvel!

Doing Justice To Dance Music

Great motion graphics in this video for French electronic group Justice. I'd like an animated t-shirt i can zip up. I'm envious!

And The Instrumentals Keep Coming

I'm not going to get into how bad the Canucks suck. I don't care that much about hockey and Ottawa has a better team anyways. Okay i'm pissed. I can't deny it. Let the rioting begin.
To the instrumentals...
Lots of goodies from the likes of Bonobo, Sixtoo alias Six Vicious and the beat infused shoegaziness of Lymbyc Systym.
The picture is of my friend Gareth's dog, Ziggy. For an animal so small it amazes me the amount of bad gas he can produce. Seriously stinky!
